Description: This mission is based on historical facts and designed for single or cooperative two player on-line play. There are 5 waypoints arranged to be flown in a clockwise triangular pattern. The Following is information about each waypoint in order as they should be flown.

START: Take-off from Maastricht. Come to heading 330 degrees North and fly to the first waypoint "1A" (Sittard Bridge). There you will find a Armor Battle raging. You may engage Armor units here but to be historically correct the German forces win this battle and if you do nothing but observe this battle the German Armor will also win over the Dutch Army. Historically the Dutch Army Forces destroyed the bridge to stop the Germans from advancing into Sittard but the Dutch only succeeded in created a short delay for the Germans who brought with them and deployed a portable single span Baily type bridge. This is where the historical basis for this mission ends as from here on you will have the chance to change the course of history and stop the German Invasion.

WAYPOINT 1B: Town of Sittard, Holland. Approximately 2 miles south of town. On the road leading into Sittard you will find a German Convoy and several artillery positions, (two on the West side and three on the East side of the road). These ground targets are game OBJECTIVES! Take them out! Then you will find three AR-234 Jet bombers circling over Sittard. You must destroy all three of these bombers which will activate a trigger to continue the mission as designed. If you do not take out these three bombers the program will not generate any further mission targets and you can return to base at Waypoint "1D" or "1E" and land completing all game objectives. If you decide to take out the three bombers (recommended) you should proceed to the next waypoint "1C" and continue the mission as designed, You will encounter more enemy aircraft en-route to the next waypoint (two HE-111s and one BF-109)! Note: Allied flak from Sittard may take out the three AR-234 bombers even if you decided to let them live and you return to base at this point. Should that happen more enemy airborne targets will be generated.

WAYPOINT 1C: City of Duren, Germany. Here you have a tough job as there are three Anti-Aircraft guns in place around Duren, try and take out as many as you can using "HVAR" before a flight of four Allied B-17s get there. The B-17s are very close by and are en-route. They will bomb Duren from an altitude of 5000ft targeting German Headquarters in the center of town. Once the B-17s have dropped their bombs you will need to follow/escort them to the next Waypoint "1D" as they will be attacked by two FW-190s while en-route.

WAYPOINT 1D: City of Aachen, Germany. When you and the B-17s arrive at Waypoint "1D" (if any have survived) they will be diverted back to England (due to software limitation they can not land). You may then start a landing approach from the WEST and land at Aachen (OBJECTIVE) or if you prefer you can continue to Waypoint "1E" Maastricht your home-base and land there (OBJECTIVE). You must land at either of the two bases but not both, which one is up to you but landing is a mission OBJECTIVE and will only be cleared if you land from the WEST at either base as directed.

WAYPOINT 1E: City of Maastricht, Holland. This is your "Home-base" and starting point of the mission. If you decided to land here you should approach from the WEST to clear the game objective. Upon landing you will have flown a complete triangular pattern consisting of 5 Waypoints.

THIS IS THE END OF THIS MISSION - HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT!!!!!!!!

Historical Note: This mission has a basis in Historical fact as On May 10, 1940 at 0400 Hrs. my dad witnessed the Dutch Army destroy the bridge leading into Sittard in an attempt to stop the impending German invasion. This bridge was actually located about 2 miles South-East of Sittard and crossed a small creek. The Dutch Army was not very successful as they did destroy the bridge but the Germans brought with them and deployed a portable single span Baily type bridge. By 0600 Hrs. German troops marched into Sittard without any further resistance, what resistance fighters the Dutch had were killed at the battle over the bridge. There was also a much larger German Invasion force located approximately 3 miles West of Sittard so the outcome of the bridge battle actually was insignificant. There were no P51Ds or for that matter no Aircraft at all to rescue the Dutch from invasion in 1940 but if we left it at that this mission would not exist. Also the town of Aachen marked on the game map as an Allied airfield is actually in Germany and as far as my dad knows was never occupied by Allied forces during the war but since the game software has labeled it as "Allied" I have included it as a possible landing site in this mission. Another problem with the games software is the city of Maastricht does not presently and never has had an airport. The creator of this mission was born in Sittard in 1957 so we need not stress the importance of stopping the Axis advance on this town, or do we?? So, here is your big chance to go and re-write history!!!!!!!!!

THIS MISSION IS DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES ON MAY 10, 1940 TRYING TO STOP THE GERMAN INVASION OF SITTARD, HOLLAND

Have Fun!
Robert
